How it works
About five minutes the first time. Easiest on a computer.
- Make a free Spotify appSpotify needs this once (2 minutes). The page below walks you through it.
- Connect both accountsYou sign in on Spotify's own page, once for each account.
- Pick what to moveEverything is ticked; untick what you'd rather leave behind.
- Press StartKeep the tab open until the report shows. Running it again only adds what is missing.
Your data stays yours
- No server sees your library. Everything runs in your browser and talks to Spotify directly.
- Nothing is saved. No database, no account, no cookies, no tracking or analytics.
- No password. You sign in on Spotify's own login page; Soundmovr never sees it.
- Forgotten when you close the tab. The access Spotify grants lives only in this tab.
- Read-only on the old account. Soundmovr cannot change or delete anything there.
- Open about what it does. It only adds to the new account what you choose, and shows a full report.
Let's move it
Something went wrong?
Spotify shows "INVALID_CLIENT: Invalid redirect URI"
The address in your Spotify app does not match this page exactly. In the Developer Dashboard open your app → Settings → Edit, add https://soundmovr.com/ under Redirect URIs (with the slash at the end), save, and press Connect again.
"The user is not registered for this application"
That account is missing from your app's User Management list, or is listed with another email. Add it with the exact email shown at spotify.com/account (with a Facebook, Google or Apple login, it is the email shown there). Then connect again.
"Web API" is greyed out when creating the app
The account you are logged in with on the Developer Dashboard has no Premium. Spotify requires Premium for the app's owner. Log in there with your other account if it has Premium; the two accounts can be added as users either way.
Both sides show the same account
Spotify's login page offers the account you are already signed in to. Press Disconnect under "Move to", press Connect again and choose "Not you?" on Spotify's page. Or sign out at spotify.com first.
Some songs were left out
Local files (music from your own computer) and songs that are no longer on Spotify cannot be added by anyone. The report lists them per playlist.
It stopped halfway, or I closed the tab
Nothing is lost. Connect again and press Start: anything the new account already has is skipped, so you never get doubles.
Questions
What exactly does it move?
Your own playlists (re-created with name, description, privacy, cover and song order), playlists you follow (followed again), Liked Songs (newest on top as before), saved albums, followed artists, podcasts, saved episodes and audiobooks.
What can't be moved?
Spotify does not let any app move listening history, Wrapped, recommendations (Discover Weekly, Daily Mix), playlist folders, the people you follow, or the original "date added". The order is kept.
Why do I need my own Spotify app?
Spotify only lets a small tool work for people its owner adds by hand. With your own free app, you are the owner and add your two accounts yourself. You can delete the app afterwards.
Do I need Premium?
Only the account that creates the Spotify app needs Premium. The accounts you move from and to can be free or Premium.
Can I merge two accounts?
Yes, in the sense that everything from one account is copied into the other. Things the target already has are skipped. See how to merge two Spotify accounts.
Is it really free?
Yes. No song limit, no ads, no sign-up. If it saved you time, you can buy the maker a coffee.
